Lions Club International Foundation Grants

The Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) is the charitable arm of Lions Clubs International, supporting Lions clubs globally with grants and resources to address pressing needs in their communities. Since its founding in 1968, LCIF has awarded over $1.2 billion in grants, focusing on vision, youth, disaster relief, humanitarian efforts, and global causes like hunger, diabetes, and childhood cancer. Through its grant programs, LCIF empowers Lions to implement impactful projects, providing resources to make meaningful differences worldwide. Lions Multi Club Department of Children & Family Rooms Renovation Project

In the Manchester CT DCF family visiting room renovation project, LCIF contributed over $500, showcasing its dedication to supporting local service initiatives. This funding, combined with additional resources, allowed the Lions to repaint and redecorate six visiting rooms and hallways, creating a warm, inviting space for families. By partnering with organizations like the Manchester CT Lions Club, LCIF demonstrates how its grants can enhance local efforts, fostering stronger, more supportive communities.

Midwest Food Bank Donation

Hunger and food insecurity impact 1 in 8 Connecticut residents, including over 112,000 children, underscoring the urgent need for resources year-round. Midwest Food Bank, a 501(c)(3) charity founded in 2003, rescues surplus food and distributes it to over 2,500 non-profits, including food pantries, shelters, and disaster relief programs. Their New England branch, established in 2021, partners with 155 Connecticut agencies to deliver vital support. With every $1 donated turning into over $30 worth of food and supplies, the Manchester Lions Club proudly contributes annually.

This year, The Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) added an additional $400 to the Manchester Lions Club’s donation to benefit Midwest Food Bank New England, further advancing efforts to support local families in need.

Manchester Public Library Large Print Collection For Children and Young Adults

In 2024, the Manchester Lions Club received a $400 grant from the Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF), which bolstered the Club's ongoing commitment to supporting local literacy and education initiatives.

The Manchester Lions Club annually donates $200 to the Manchester Public Library to maintain and expand their vibrant Children’s and Young Adult Large print collection; the inspiration for funding a collection came from Manchester Lions Club member Bill Graver. This specialized collection, the largest within the LCI Consortium, (comprising 32 libraries in Connecticut), offers accessible and engaging reading materials to young readers with visual or reading challenges. The Manchester Public Library was the first in the Consortium to have a dedicated Children's and Young Adult Large Print collection. In 2024, the $400 LCIF donation was used to purchase seventeen Large Print Children’s and Young Adult books in Spanish. The potential reach of the collection is expanded because any CT state resident can visit the Manchester Public Library, browse, and check out Large Print books. Library staff expressed their gratitude for the continual funding because Large Print books are almost twice the price of non-Large Print books.

The Manchester Public Library serves as a cornerstone of the community, providing diverse resources and programs to inspire learning and growth. The Manchester Lions Club and LCIF contributions to the Large Print collection align with the Library's mission to foster literacy and inclusivity, ensuring that all children and teens have equitable access to high-quality reading materials. This partnership demonstrates the power of collaboration in promoting lifelong learning and literacy for all. To find out more about the Manchester Public Library, visit: Library Town of Manchester.
