Lions Multi Club Department of Children & Family Rooms Renovation Project

The Manchester CT Department of Children & Family (DCF) reached out to the Manchester CT Lions Club to help renovate their family visiting rooms. All preparations and planning came to a stop in March 2020; and it wasn’t until 2022 that we start and complete this community service project.

Ed Gorman, Manchester Lions Club member and past President, spear headed this renovation project. He worked closely with Erin Wasicki and Suzanne Gaither and the rest of the dedicated DCF staff members, to plan a repainting of 6 DCF visiting rooms and the 1st and 2nd floor hallways. The Manchester Lions Club painted and decorated 3 rooms. Three Lions Clubs from nearby towns, South Windsor, Tolland, and Marlborough, each chose a room to sponsor, paint, and decorate.

Lions members came in after hours on weeknights and Saturdays to paint and decorate all the rooms from September 2022 through February 2023, with final decorations and furnishings being completed in March 2023. A grand opening and open house is planned for May 2023.

A huge thank you goes out to Sean Ball, and the Manchester CT Home Depot; they awarded a $2000 grant to help fund this project, as well as donating all paint, and painting tools.
